Research Update #2

I'm doing my research paper on the Black Death and the Spanish Flu, two of the most deadly epidemics in history, and I want to find out which was really the deadliest. My topic is very interesting because both diseases caused panic all over the world. Both epidemics greatly decreased the worlds population. The Black Death is the main reason for the decline of papacy and feudalism in Europe, and is responsible for 25- 40% of Europe’s population between 1347-1351. The influenza pandemic caused an estimated thirty to seventy-five million deaths, or 2.5 to 5% of the world’s population. The flu epidemic caused huge mortality rates but uneven by country, killing approximately 3% of the world’s population. Most people don't know this but there were two different plagues that made up the Black Death: the most known as the bubonic plague, where the lymph glands swell. Then there is the pneumonic plague, where they lungs succumbed first.

ATDPTI Response

This book has been very interesting so far. It's very interesting that Junior and Rowdy are best friends, but have the complete opposite personalities. Rowdy stands up for Junior and Junior keeps Rowdy grounded. They really only have each other on the Rez, and when Junior makes the decision to move to Reardan it jeopardizes there entire friendship.  It was very interesting when Mr. P came to Juniors house after he hit him right in the nose with a book. Junior thought he was in trouble but really Mr. P was kind of apologizing to him and was saying he deserved what he got because of what he had done to the Indians. He is the reason Junior has decided to switch to Reardan and find new hope. I wonder if Mr. P will be a very influential character later in the book.

Free Post: Snow Days

After the first week back from winter break I was so excited that we had a three day weekend and that I got to sleep in an extra day. I never would have thought that it would turn out to be a 5 and maybe possible 6 day weekend. I did not know it was even going to possibly snow until late Monday afternoon.  I was hoping that school would be closed Tuesday, but then Mrs. Spencer sent an email saying we are going to have school and I was really bummed out. Then around 5:40 the next morning my dad came into my room and told me that school was cancelled. Although I was very tired and did not show much emotion I was so happy and relieved inside. At first I was confused about why there was no school because only until around 7:00 did it start to snow. Around 1:00 on Tuesday they announced that school would be closed down on Wednesday as well. I could not believe that it snowed for the second time this winter, it was the first time that that has ever happened in my life. So far this has been

Research Update

So far the most difficult part of my research process has been finding the sources. My topic consists of two different parts that I have to research, so I had to find five sources for each of those parts. It was hard to find five sources that were relevant to each part. The annotated bibliography was also hard task to complete. We had to choose our six best sources and write a summary, an evaluation, and a reflection on each and while doing so I realized that some of my sources did not have as much information as I thought they did. I think finding the sources and actually looking and writing down summaries of each source are the hardest and most boring parts of the research process. I think now I am more organized and now it will be easier to complete my research paper. I am confident in my research and how I have done so far.

New Semester Reflection

Three things that I learned about being a student in the fall semester that I can use during the spring semester are know how to manage your time, don't be scared to ask questions, and have fun and don't get stressed out. Time management is very important for me to make good grades and I have learned how to manage my time between school and sports. Since I'm new at Episcopal this year I started out very hesitant and quiet, but throughout the first semester I became more and more confident and interactive in my classes. I learned that high school isn't just about making good grades and starting your journey to college, its about having fun and meeting new people who you will be friends with for the rest of your life. My goals for the spring semester are to make good grades, do well in sports, and keep having fun and meeting new people. In the first semester I managed to get all A's and one B and this semester I hope I can come through with all A's. I also hope t

What are some tricks and ways to manage your time at Episcopal after your first quarter? Prompt

Time management is crucial for anyone in order to make good grades, but it is especially important if you play a sport or sports. I play football, baseball, and basketball and instead of leaving straight after school in carpool, I have to stay until at least 6:30 every day for practice or even later if we have games. My goal at episcopal is to excel in both sports and grades and ignorer for me to do so, I have to be able to manage my time well. So far this year I have never really stressed a lot of homework because I have managed my time properly. Usually I always look at my calendar on canvas to see the week ahead and what is due when and then see what sport events I have that week. I usually use study hall to do the majority of my work and, then if need be I use tutorial to do other homework or to visit my teachers if I have questions for them. Then I come home right after practice or my game and get right to my homework so I don't have to stay up too late doing it.
