A Flash Story
One night I was walking around town with my friends Alex and
Ben. We had finished our football game earlier that night. Ben had hit the game
winning field goal as time expired, winning 23-20. It was almost 10:30 at
night, when we heard an alarm go off about a block from us. We quickly ran and investigated
the screeching noise. Once we turned the corner we saw the broken glass of the
bank. We thought someone was robbing the store. Only being fourteen year olds,
we didn’t really know what to do. We figured the police were already alerted
and were on the way, but we decided to take matters into our own hands. We quickly
rushed over to the door and looked inside. We couldn’t believe what we saw
next. We saw Mr. Williams bent over sweeping the broken glass off the floor. We
asked him what happened and he showed us a baseball with almost the whole cover
ripped off. We then looked and noticed the neighboring old sandlot across the
street. We then helped Mr. Williams clean up the shards of glass. He thanked us
for the help and we went on our way.
This is a great example of a flash story. I love the comedy in this short story. Also, how it is anti-climactic.
ReplyDeleteI liked the way you brought suspense into the story. Also the way the story ended in an anti climatic way.
