How Has Technology Shaped Our World Today?

Imagine going back to when our parents were our age, around the 1970's. During that time our parents didn't have portable cell phones or even smart phones, flat screen TV's, portable laptops, smart watches etc. When our parents were kids, they didn't have phones with apps, like Snap Chat, Facebook, or Instagram, and they couldn't texts their friends whenever they wanted. They didn't have laptops that you could carry in your backpack and pull them out whenever and do work. They couldn't sit on the couch and turn on their 50 in flat screen TV and watch their favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix. So come back to present day. Think how much do you do those things I just listed, a lot I'm sure. In those forty years from our parents childhood to our childhood we can see how much technology has advanced and shaped our world today. LOTF Reading Response Pg. 91

The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.  Once there was this and that; and now--and the ship had gone. [... Jack refusing to give Piggy the floor when he has the conch...] "The rules!" shouted Ralph.  "You're breaking the rules!" "Who cares?" Ralph summoned his wits. "Because the rules are the only thing we've got!" But Jack was shouting against him. "Bollocks to the rules!  We're strong--we hunt!  If there's a beast, we'll hunt it down!  We'll close in and beat and beat and beat--!" (91) This paragraph shows that the boys were forgetting the ways of the old civilization they once knew before life on the island. The ideas of orders,  organization, and rules were slowly neglected. This fault in their society caused the boys to split up into two different tribes and also caused the death of Piggy and Simon. Free Post: Snow Days

After the first week back from winter break I was so excited that we had a three day weekend and that I got to sleep in an extra day. I never would have thought that it would turn out to be a 5 and maybe possible 6 day weekend. I did not know it was even going to possibly snow until late Monday afternoon.  I was hoping that school would be closed Tuesday, but then Mrs. Spencer sent an email saying we are going to have school and I was really bummed out. Then around 5:40 the next morning my dad came into my room and told me that school was cancelled. Although I was very tired and did not show much emotion I was so happy and relieved inside. At first I was confused about why there was no school because only until around 7:00 did it start to snow. Around 1:00 on Tuesday they announced that school would be closed down on Wednesday as well.
