How Has Technology Shaped Our World Today?

Imagine going back to when our parents were our age, around the 1970's. During that time our parents didn't have portable cell phones or even smart phones, flat screen TV's, portable laptops, smart watches etc. When our parents were kids, they didn't have phones with apps, like Snap Chat, Facebook, or Instagram, and they couldn't texts their friends whenever they wanted. They didn't have laptops that you could carry in your backpack and pull them out whenever and do work. They couldn't sit on the couch and turn on their 50 in flat screen TV and watch their favorite TV shows and movies on Netflix. So come back to present day. Think how much do you do those things I just listed, a lot I'm sure. In those forty years from our parents childhood to our childhood we can see how much technology has advanced and shaped our world today. We have millions of internet sources and apps at our fingertips where you can find out almost anything you want on your phone o

Human Nature

In todays world humans are flawed and full of possibility. Everyone in the world is different, but also similar to each other in many ways. No one in the world is perfect, one person might be very athletic, but not very smart and another person could be really smart, but not considered handsome/beautiful. However, everyone in the world is full of possibility. The people of Earth are the future of Earth and of our world, they have the chance to make differences in the world. By being a Christian, I believe that God made everyone in his own image and likeness. No one person is the same as another. My beliefs as a Christian also allow me to believe everyone is flawed and no one human is perfect or divine, except Jesus Christ.

My Fall Break

During fall break all I wanted to do was relax, and I did. I got to sleep in for the first time in months. I didn't have to worry about cramming in all my homework in because I had a four-day weekend. The best part was that our football coach gave us off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I haven't been this relaxed and rested since the summer. The best thing about this break was that from Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, my old school, St. George, had its annual fair. I got to ride the rides, eat all the great, yet non-healthy food, and the best part of all, hang out with my old friends from middle school. It was so much fun seeing all of them and hanging out at the fair. We went and watched the 7th and 8th graders play their football game on Sunday. The fair has always been so fun and exciting and it lived up to my hopes this year! I can't wait to go back next year.

A&P

A&P by John Updike, is a shorty story based in the 1960's about an 18 year old Sammy works at the A&P store and tries to impress these girls who are shopping in the store. This story shows the difference in class in the 1960's. Sammy is shown as a lower class teenager who works at the grocery store to help provide for his family. While these three girls walk into the store in the middle of the day in bathing suits saying their mother sent them to buy some herring snacks. This shows that the higher class had more privileges than the lower class or at least they thought so. This story also exemplifies how you should always stay true to your word, no matter what it is. In the story Sammy is outraged by the way Lengel treats the young ladies. He exclaimed that he quit in an act of heroism towards the girls, not realizing the consequences of his actions. Therefore Sammy stays true to his word and goes through with quitting even though the girls had already vanished and had
